About s-mount submission techniques

S-mount is a finishing machine. Your high knee near their head traps one arm while the posted foot gives you a stable base to attack. The armbar from s-mount is one of the tightest finishes in BJJ because your opponent has almost no space to defend.

The mounted armbar from s-mount starts by controlling the isolated arm. Lean forward, swing your leg over their face, and fall back for the finish. The key difference from a regular mounted armbar is how little distance you need to travel. Your leg is already next to their head.

S-mount also opens triangle opportunities. When your opponent tries to free their trapped arm, you can lock a mounted triangle. This submission chain between armbar and triangle makes s-mount one of the most dangerous positions in the sport.
