About closed guard submission techniques

The closed guard is one of the most submission-rich positions in BJJ. Your legs lock your opponent in place while your hands attack triangles, armbars, cross chokes, and guillotines. Posture control is what makes these submissions work.

Break your opponent's posture and control their hands. From there, every defensive reaction opens a different submission. If they push into you, attack the cross choke or Ezekiel. If they posture up, go for the armbar or triangle. If they reach across, the kimura and omoplata are there.

Closed guard submissions work best as chains. Rarely will you finish the first attack you try. Set up your primary submission knowing your opponent will defend, then flow to the next attack in the sequence.
