About S-Mount

S-mount is an advanced mount variation where one knee is posted high near your opponent's head while the other foot is on the mat. This creates a powerful platform for armbar and triangle attacks.

The position gets its name from the S-shape your legs form. It isolates one of your opponent's arms and makes armbar finishes much tighter. Many high-level competitors use s-mount as their primary finishing position from mount.

To get to s-mount, climb your mount high and slide one knee up to their ear. Post the opposite foot for base. From here you can attack the armbar with very little space for your opponent to defend.
