About Back Control
Back control is the single most dominant position in BJJ. You are behind your opponent with your hooks in or a body triangle locked, and they cannot see or easily reach you. The rear naked choke is always a threat.
From the back you can attack with rear naked chokes, bow and arrow chokes, arm bars, and collar chokes. Your opponent must defend submissions while also trying to escape, which creates a constant dilemma.
Keep your seatbelt grip tight and your chest glued to their back. When they try to escape to one side, switch your attack to the other. Patience is key. Back control scores 4 points and is worth fighting to maintain.
