About back control control techniques

Maintaining back control is about staying glued to your opponent. Your seatbelt grip and hooks work together to prevent them from turning, sliding down, or creating space. Lose the grip or the hooks and you lose the position.

The seatbelt grip puts one arm over the shoulder and one under the armpit. Keep your chest tight to their back and your head next to theirs. When they try to escape toward your underhook side, switch to the other side or lock a body triangle.

Body triangles are the strongest control tool from the back. Once locked, your opponent carries your entire weight and has very few escape options. Use the body triangle to slow the pace and methodically work toward your choke.
