About mount control techniques

Maintaining mount is a skill unto itself. Your opponent will bridge, shrimp, and frame to escape. Knowing how to ride their movement and stay heavy is what separates a dominant mount from a lost position.

Keep your base wide and your hips low. When your opponent bridges, post your hands and shift your weight to absorb the movement. When they shrimp, follow their hips and re-center. The goal is to make escaping feel hopeless.

Use your mount control to set up submissions. Every time your opponent moves to escape, they create openings. A bridge exposes the arm for an Americana. A shrimp exposes the neck for a choke. Control and offense work together from mount.
