About Single Leg X

Single leg X (also called ashi garami) wraps both of your legs around one of your opponent's legs. This position is a gateway to sweeps, back takes, and leg lock entries.

From single leg X you can sweep by simply extending your legs and driving your opponent forward. You can also transition to X-guard for bigger sweeps or enter leg entanglements for heel hooks and kneebars.

The key is controlling your opponent's ankle and knee line. Keep their foot trapped and use your hooks to prevent them from stepping out. This position rewards patience and timing over explosive movement.
