Tren lock basics
Tum Voorn demonstrates the tren lock, also known as Pato lock or short achilles foot lock. This is essentially an ankle lock with a powerful control variation. The key detail is managing distance control based on your own flexibility. In the tren lock, you insert your legs below the opponent's knee to create an even more powerful lever on the ankle than in a regular ankle lock. You can enter the tren lock from single X, butterfly X, or reverse de la riva. This lock is also white belt legal in competition, making it an excellent fundamental leg lock to learn.
